KANCHENJUNGA TREK - NORTH AND SOUTH BASE CAMPS
Grade 4 (Demanding) April/May and September/October
This superb exploratory trek offers views of the Kanchenjunga
Massif from
the North and South Base Camps. After reaching the Tamur Valley,
the trail
follows the trade route to Walung Chung to high alpine pastures
above
Ghunsa.
From above Ghunsa, first the dramatic peak of Jannu appears, then
Sharpu
comes into view. After visiting Pang Pema (the northern base camp)
with
unsurpassed views of Kanchenjunga's main peak and Yalung Khang,
the
route leads back to Ghunsa and then turns east in order to cross
the
Mirgin La pass into the Simbuwa Khola valley. A day trip takes
you to the
Yalung Glacier for great views of the south face of Kanchenjunga.
From here Suketar near Taplejung is reached by a route different
from
the approach trek.
The Kanchenjunga route has all the attributes of a perfect Himalayan
trek:
Superb mountain and river scenery, remote villages - lovely
houses with thatched roofs, Tibetan settlements with friendly
people, challenging walking trails - crossing high passes.

MILKE DANRA TREK 13 Days Trekking Grade 3 (Moderate)

An excellent short trek for those who want to appreciate the beauty
of
East Nepal without being on the trail for a long time. The ridgetops
along
this little trekked route offer fantastic views of Mount Everest,
Makalu and
the Kanchenjunga Massif. This region is more lush and green than
other
parts of Nepal and the forests have plenty of wildlife. The trail
passes through
beautiful stands of oak and rhododendron and the villages of the
Rais and Limbus.
Access is by flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar, followed by
bus transport to
start of trek.
